Setting up a web site | Web Hosting/Domain Registration Price List

EasyWare offers comprehensive range of web building services including basic design and building, advice and consultancy on the internet, and day-to-day management of clients' web sites. The basic idea behind EasyWare is to make Internet and software technology accessible to everyone, including technophobes and the uninitiated. To this end we have produced:

The Idiot's Guide to setting up a web site

1) Choose a name. Decide the name you want for your web site (eg: www.easyware.co.uk). The name you choose is called your Domain name.

2) Search on the name. Do a search to see whether the domain name is still available. (Tip: the more general the name, the more likely that it has already been taken). You can do a search for the availability of your domain name here: Domain Search

3) Purchase the name. If the name (or similar) is still available, then you will have to purchase the rights to the name. The rights are usually purchased and renewed every 2 years. The cost of this 2 year ownership ranges from about £25 (for .co.uk names) to £40 (for .com names). Once you have purchased the name, it is yours for that 2-year period, and you can do whatever you choose to do with it. Whichever ISP you are using (e.g. EasyWare UK) will register the name for you. You can purchase your name here: Domain name purchase.

4) Build your web. Once you have bought your name, then you need the actual web pages built for your site. This can be expensive, if you use the services of a web builder. We would advise those with very limited budgets to try pre-built templates. For as little as £10, you can get excellent pre-built templates here EasyWare Basic Templates. The downside is that it MAY not turn out to be as professionally done as if you have used a dedicated web builder/designer. However, it is a very good entry point for those who want to build a web page for the first time. The other downside is that you many have to modify the templates a little, in order for it to suit your purposes. This is not as difficult as it looks. However if you are absolutely daunted by this, there is a third way: buy the templates and give it to a web builder/web savvy user to modify for you. That way, you save on the design costs (usually about 50% of the total costs of doing the entire web with a web builder/designer). Whatever you decide, EasyWare should be able to find a painless and inexpensive solution for you. Our price list for modifying templates can be found here Web Services Price List

5) Host your web. Finally, when your web pages have been built, then you have to host it. Hosting means that it is place where everyone on the Internet can have access to it. Hosting ranges from the most basic (about £5 a month) to the very complex (£100s a month). Most novices require the most basic hosting. Again, our hosting price list is available here: Web Services Price List. You are not tied to our services ad can leave for another hosting provider at any time (providing you do not have any outstanding payments to us).

6) That's it, really.

In summary, the cost of the most basic presence on the web is roughly:
1) Domain name purchase: about £30 (every two years)
2) Pre-built web page - about £10 (one-off payment)
3) Hosting: about £60 (per year)
